Since 1888, an experience as big as the ocean.
Angelo Parodi’s story began when the 19th century was drawing to a close. It was 1888 and the fascination of the sea was still attracting many sailors and young men from all over the world.
Every day, boats left their moorings in the harbour of Genoa and set sail to go fishing. Those were the boats belonging to a personality who would make history in the city and beyond.
His name was Angelo Parodi, an enterprising man of genius who decided to devote all his efforts to tuna fishing and canning.
Those were adventurous years, when the sea called for great courage and where entrepreneurial investments could meet with success or failure within a very short space of time.
Angelo Parodi identified the right ports from which to source raw materials, he selected the best varieties of fish, and built factories, entrusting them to the local population, who were both willing to work and grateful. Gradually, Angelo Parodi understood how to preserve fish in the best way possible, and the canned products attained ever-wider appreciation.
Today, more than 100 years later, Angelo Parodi still upholds the secrets of the tradition inaugurated by its founder, bringing the excellence of tuna and canned fish such as tuna, mackerel, anchovies, sardines and salmon, to our tables.
After careful selection of the catch, the finest oily fish from the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts is still aged slowly, in order to fully enhance its flavour. There is full awareness of the importance of the environment and the wellness of marine fauna, and the enthusiasm for what heirs of Angelo Parodi does today, is the same as it was in 1888.
