Description
Skærsøgaard Vin is Denmark’s first licensed winery, located at the village of Dons near the town of Kolding. The vineyard is owned by Sven Moesgaard. During harvest season, numerous volunteers help bring the harvest home. A total of 30,000 vines are grown in an amazing location on about 10 hectares of land.
The vineyard is located in Denmark’s first and the EU’s northernmost wine region. The sparkling wine “DONS” signed by Skærsøgaard received the first Danish Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), which is equivalent to the French AOC and Italian DOC. It is the only Danish product with this designation.
Skærsøgaard wines are characterized by the Danish summer white nights; slow, aromatic ripening of the grapes; and a traditional, artisanal production method.
